- Wraith Of The Ropes

Wraith of the Ropes was formed in late 2001 in Hamilton, Ohio USA. It started as a trio that includes Scarecrow Rottinghouse (Demonic Vocals, Keys, Programming), E.M. Hearst (All Guitars, Bass Guitar, Drums, Programming) and V. Rottinghouse (Clean female Vocals). In 2004, the band became a duo when it's female vocalist left.

Scarecrow Rottinghouse and E.M. Hearst are also members of the awesome Funeral Doom band "Torture Wheel" and the Electronic-Industrial band "Neo Hizumi". E.M. Hearst is in another Funeral Doom project called "The Sad Sun" with Stijn Van Cauter.

WOTR plays what it simply refers to as "Horror Metal". Their music consists of many elements from many different genres. WOTR refuses to adhere to any genre's rules or codes. The music is influenced by many diverse elements including Horror Film soundtracks & film scores, Doom Metal, Dark Metal, Black Metal, old school "Sabbathian" Heavy Metal, Classical and even Industrial music. The biggest influence on WOTR is Horror, in many forms... from classic Horror films to 80's slasher flicks; from the tales of Edgar Allan Poe to the true life atrocities of mankind.

The first album from WOTR called "Ada" can be seen as a concept album dealing with dreams, nightmares, broken reality, insanity, hallucinations, sadness, regret and the Horrors of clinical depression, dementia, death, and suicide.

The songs typically have a slow tempo which can give the false impression that WOTR is a Doom Metal band. For this one album that may not be far from the truth, but this slow tempo is only a reflection of the album's concepts. Future albums may have a drastically different sound, atmosphere and feeling as WOTR claims membership to no particular genre or scene other than "Horror Metal".

The music on "Ada" is the product of two cursed and ruined lives. Everything that could possibly go wrong during the recording of "Ada" did go wrong, including the loss of one of it's founding members in 2004. The music reflects the misery that was felt by it's creator's during the 5 years that it took to complete the album. Finally, in the Summer of 2005, the recordings were finished and the band signed a deal with Totalrust Music to release this monument to broken dreams, self-destruction and suicide called "Ada". So we are very happy to announce that the long waiting is over. "Ada" will be released in October!
