Tohcoth is Aarni’s second full-length album and contains a plethora of musical styles ranging from various subgenres of doom metal, 70’s prog and folk to ambient, while remaining charmingly guitar-driven. A number of chord progressions and melodies have been implemented so as to cause beneficial effects in the listener (hopefully) according to the principles of ‘sacred geometry’. You may find the album’s overall atmosphere somewhat proggy, experimental and freaked-out. The themes on ‘Tohcoth’ consist of occultism and futuristic theories, brain-change and collective & personal liberation…with added Lovecraftian, alchemical, mythological, Discordian and Thelemic content. Languages featured this time include English, Latin, Finnish and Enochian. Tohcoth also features what may be the first ever recording of “The Battle Hymn of the Eristocracy” from the cult classic book Principia Discordia. As on Aarni’s critically and popularily acclaimed debut album Bathos, the Finnish media personality Sampo Marjomaa has contributed guest vocals and VV from the band Umbra Nihil plays most of the drums. With their first official full-length album, EndName take a serious step to develop their own style of dense instrumental post-doom-sludge metal with electronic accents and a generally bleak atmosphere. Dreams Of A Cyclops proves that the band already knows how to rock hard, but it also shows off their feel for dynamics and for less-aggressive, quieter ways of getting their point across. The band's songwriting approach based on the layered guitars and the melodic alternation between major and minor-key riffing is expansive and massive, but it also includes a more effective background use of synthesizers and noises, as well as the introduction of alien textures – like percussion or didjeridu tribal acoustics – to electrified sonic palette. The tracks tend to be on the long side – between six and thirteen minutes apiece – and in addition to that, they are clearly meant to flow together as part of a start-to-finish listening experience. The album will likely please most fans of guitar-saturated brand of experimental-art-metal who tend to esteem the absence of vocals. (6 tracks - 55 min.)

The album's cover is a black and white mandala, perfectly fit to concentrate on, meditation or... tripping experiences, much like listening to Esoteric's music. This album is maybe more mature than 'Epistemological despondency', but it is still a very dark and psychedelic one. The depressive, melancholic intro is more melodic than most of Isoterics' works and may remind some fans of bands like My Dying Bride and Anathema. But after about five minutes the music will probably hit you in the head. The familiar Esoteric chaos, vocal, bass and guitar effects, death grunts, hysterical screams and an overall atmosphere that reminds all too much of a bad trip. The production is more accurate than before, although it is still as dark as it's ever been. The tracks are still l-o-n-g …except the short, aggressive death/grind track "At war with the race", which shows the misanthropic nature of the band. Another trip into your dark soul…

Goathemy 2nd full-lenght album “Torn” contains 10 songs of atmospheric music, influenced by doom, thrash and black metal. Band´s debut album “Frostland” was released 2006 and it was more influenced my melodic black metal. With new album the style has evolved quite a lot since the debut; whole album has a lower tempo and more vicious and heavier sound with better sense of dynamic. Songs most often consist of strong riffs, melodies & unassuming but strong feeling. Despite of the melodies there is not any synths at all. Female vocalist Teija is the one who brings the atmosphere and melodies into the songs with her clean voice. Lyrics consider of nature forces, paganism and disgust against stupidity of mankind.

The classic 1991 debut, and only album, from the infamous Las Vegas black death doom band Goatlord is finally available again on CD format. Blackened death doom metal released by Turbo/JLAmerica back in 1992 and originally released as ''Reflections of the Solstice'' by Turbo Germany in '91. This 2006 repress contains the JL America version of the mix and contains two bonus tracks Voodoo Mass and Chicken Dance (European mix) plus a fold out poster containing all lyrics. Features guest backing vocals by Mitch Harris (Napalm Death) on three songs. Taking influences from Bathory (vocals) and Hellhammer (doom), Goatlord created some of the most cult recording on this album.

This 1st album contains re-recording version of 3 songs from Monolithium demo and 3 more songs. Those who mixed this album is no other than Greg from UK veteran doom band Esoteric. Mournful Gust - a well known Ukrainian group come back with a new album after an eight-year break! The debut album was issued in 2000 on MC and has been rereleased on CD in 2005 by Soyuz/Metal Agen. Today the group comes back with the new material, combining such styles as: gothic metal, death/doom and elements of the European folk-music. The sated melodies are filled with parts of live flute. The voice of the vocalist (known from his work with Autumnia) transfers a rich palette of feelings and experiences, which have been put in pawn in the English-speaking lyrics, passing from clear singing, to growl. The newest output (their third album) by this old, brazilian Death/Doom Metal band. The Vanished Pantheon is much more chaotic and intense than any of their previous releases and with also an excellent production ,this is definitely the best album of this brazilian legend.

This is a different kind of ambient/funeral doom than what Until Death Overtakes Me produces, but still pepole who like Stijn's main project should "enjoy" this one too. Being one of the longest existing doom metal bands in Poland, Nightly Gale surely gained the appreciation and admiration they deserve. After a few demo tapes recorded back in the 90's and the very well received debut album, entitled "...And Jesus Wept", the time has just come to unveil the second and definitely the most mature full-length album "Illusion of Evil".

"A step back into their roots as a band and how they've formed into what they are today. Included in this release is their very first demo, "Sons Of Nature" from Jan 1999 which was recorded when their average age was 18 years old. Even though you may hear some occasional doom elements this is firmly delivered as old heavy metal, which has been compared to the NWOBHM in the few reviews they have had. Their second demo included is actually two songs taken from the original master of the Epicurean Mass recording sessions. The main difference is the sound of the guitars, the vocals, and some leads, or lack there of. The vocals we're not nearly as good as on the final album, but it was Mike Puleo's first stab at singing which is quite surprising. The new material included on this release is no holds barred, total raw mind crushing doom! Everything was recorded on their own equipment the entire month of February 2004. Look at it like a "new" demo of Orodruin if you will. The new track, "Claw Tower" is a powerhouse of pure doom that will shatter your skull and make you hallucinate in broad daylight. This is the 1st "shelved" version never heard before until now. With each release PENANCE strengthens its reputation as one of America´s standout indie doom bands. The origins trace back to a band called DREAM DEATH , whose sole album displayed some doom tendencies but with a more hardcore-ish slant, particularly in the vocal department. Three members from that line-up decided to shift direction, and thus Penance was born.

One of the more progressive-minded bands in the scene, Poema Arcanus infuse their doom/death metal with a variety of influences and continue to stay a step ahead of the pack. With influences from Voivod and Opeth, 'Timeline Symmetry,' the band's fourth album, comes across a bit more melodic and epic than their previous album. Great stuff!

Highly atmospheric and emotional modern death/doom from Portugal. Process of Guilt are influenced by bands such as My Dying Bride, mid-Katatonia and Fields of the Nephilim, but are still a very unique and original band, their mid-tempo music very intense, melancholic and also somewhat modern, electronic and mechanic sounding, with heavily distorted screaming vocals and guitars, and plentiful use of samples and keyboards, and the music ranges from dreamy, sad, quiet interludes to intense, brutal outbursts of speed. Though PoG are somewhat emotional and influenced by bands such as My Dying Bride, you will certainly not find any medieval gothic imagery, violins, Shakespearan lyrics or other such clichיs here, just dark, modern soundscapes of pain.

Past members of Ocean of Sorrow are now back with a new project of their own - Revelations of Rain! This melodic death-doom is very close to both old-school bands like My Dying Bride and new-wave European doom-death (Swallow the Sun, Mourning Beloveth). The lyrics, which are written in Russian have a very deep sense and greatly combine with heavy but melodic music of the band that continues the very best traditions of death-doom school.

The second, self-titled album of russian doom/death metal band Revelations of Rain (Otkroveniya Dozhdya).Professionally recorded by extended to quintet line-up at Primordial Studio (known for such bands as Abstract Spirit and Twilight Is Mine) album became a new step in the band's progress. Hailing from the darkest depths of Surte, Sweden, Runemagick evoke feelings of utter desolation and despair with their new album, Voyage to Desolation/Dawn of the End. Started in late 1990 and focused on playing a mid-tempo death/doom style of metal, they took inspiration from the classic death/black metal bands: Celtic Frost, Bathory, Autopsy, and Hellhammer. New work of S.C.A.L.P. - one of the oldest metal bands in Russia, opening a band from different side.
