Okay, the music might be far from original, but that is not what it is all about when you go for tradition. And that is what we black metalfans usually look for when we speak of "old school". Here and there I still detect the sound of a synthesizer that subtly fills in some places with choral sounds and mystical melodies. All sorts of interesting intros and intermezzo' create very fitting atmospheres per song. The rhythms are tight and heavy, while the riffs are powerful and gripping. Each song is almost completely different, meaning there is a wide range of moods from song to song. Some are melancholic, some are fast and brutal, others are war songs. Welsh death metal three piece Desecration have been causing controversy since 1995 when their ‘Gore & Perversion’ album was infamously seized and incinerated by the police due to it’s offensive content. The band was told to “tone right down” or get out of the business altogether…. Neither of these things happened! Since then the band have gone from strength to strength with comprising an extensive catalog, and now the outstanding release PROCESS OF DECAY has been unleashed upon the world.

Bludgeoning and frantic Death Metal is what this Dutch band serves up, Thrashy and energetic, combining blasting intensity and some melodic riffing. Slow churning riffs are also quite common, and almost hint at a Doom Metal influence. Through and through you could say that this is an old school band in nature. The production isn't dirty but the music definitely recalls the glory days, albeit possibly a bit more under control and with a few surprises along the way. This band is energetic, writes amazing songs and really understands the crucial aspects of Metal, an excellent release.

Combining aspects of black metal, heavy metal, rock and neo-folk, along with unusual song structures the results of the debut album make for a very earhty and organic expirience. This work also includes appearences by Andrew Curtis-Brignell (CAINA) who contributed lyrics and vocals to the opening track entitled "Black Ashes" as well as Tanner Anderson (CELESTIIAL) who plays hammered dulcimer on the title track.
